09-10 ACT U/17 Representatives

congratulations to Northies up-and-comers Andrew McDonald and Shannon Byrne.

Shannon plays in the Womens team and has been selected in the ACT u17 Meteors squad, who recently enjoyed a good win over the Riverina rep squad. The u17 Meteors are currently training for the country championships to be held in Newcastle from 3rd to 5th of October with a National Championships to be held in Brisbane in December.

Andrew has also been selected in the u17 ACT train on squad.

Congratulations to both Shannon and Andrew and best of luck for the season!

09-10 Fees

The club management committee met last night to determine fees for the 2009/10 season. They have been set at:

Senior Men: $440
Concession holders*: $300
Senior Women: $220

*Concession holders are full time students or unemployed people.

All members will receive a playing shirt, social / training shirt and cap this season, although due to a delay in obtaining the artwork, these may not be available prior to the first match.

We prefer that fees be paid via a direct electronic transfer to the club bank account. Please use your surname, initial and "fees" in the description line (ie, "EichholzerA Fees"). The club bank account details are as follows:

All fees must be paid in full before 31 October 2009, otherwise you will be deemed ineligible for selection.

If you do not think that you are able to meet that requirement, you must agree to an alternative arrangement with Treasurer Rowan Thompson (thommo001@hotmail.com) or Assistant Treasurer Bryan Coughlan (bryan.coughlan@ed.act.edu.au) prior to that date.

Those unable to pay via electronic transfer must pay cash to Rowan or Bryan.

Sat 19th Sep 2009-Pirate Pub Run 2009

Fellow Northies Superstars,

The Pirate Pub Run is being run again this year and just like last year the Pirate Pub Run will be a player sponsor for the coming season.

This means that any Northies players who attends the Pirate Pub Run this year will be in the running to be sponsored by the Pirate Pub Run which includes your playing fees paid for the season.

Unfortunately for you younger superstars this is a 18+ event due to the fact that we are going to a bunch of pubs but I'm sure it will be soon enough that you will be ready to join in on the fun and I'm sure there will be other events organised through out the year for you to get involved in.

Remember there are limited spots as lots of people are going from last year so if you are keen you need to get in sooner rather than later. Here are the details:

Ye been lucky enough to be invited to the 5th annual Pirate Pub Run taking place on ye heavy Canberee seas on Saturday 19 September.

For those of ye who have been on a voyage before will know how treacherous but fun this voyage can be. For ye first timers, ya better bring ya sea legs and ya better be in a pirate or wench costume or ya will see the back of Red Dog's sword. That doesn't excuse you lot who've been on a voyage previously, ya know the rules and if ya don't comply, what the punishment will be. No-one want to be Monkey Boy on this Pirate Pub Run.

Thar be a voyage tax to be incurred again this year as I be organisin' our own personal long boat for some of the voyage and thar be food involved at ports along the way as well. It be 30 gold pieces.

As with past voyages, ye will need a pillaging name. If ya been on last years voyage, ye have first dibs on ye pirate or wench name. If ye want to change ye wench name, ye can but Red Dog Roy will always be Red Dog Roy. If you put your name up on the wall, I'll update my list from there.

As with last year, there on be 110 spots of the Pirate Pub Run this year. I be selling tickets to Pirates this year so it be first in first served.

22nd July 2009-Changes to NCGCC Management Committee

As you may or may not know, our President Rob Docker resigned at our Presentation Night, citing his pressing work commitments.

I would like to thank Rob personally and on behalf of the club for his work the past three years and hope that we haven't seen the last of him at Norths.

As an interim measure, the Management Committee have appointed Albert Eichholzer to the role of Acting President and Allan Hall to the role of Acting Secretary.

These positions will be then be opened at the club's AGM, due to be held in August.

3RD GRADE - PREMIERS 2008/2009

Congratulations to Thommo and his team - 2008/09 3rd Grade Premiers!!

For those that didn't get a chance to get down to the game, Norths bowled first and saw ANU make 8/290 in more than 110 overs.

Carpy and Tommy Rowe took 2 each and the other wickets were shared around. Everyone trucked hard on a very flat track against some negative batting.

After ANU declared overnight, yesterday we saw some of the best Grand Final batting seen at KT Park.

Brock Winkler and Tom Rowe put on 50 for the first wicket, before Jase McNamara and Brock put on 150+ for the second.

Jase was out just after tea for 57 and Brock went on to make a fantastic 146.

Thommo and Liam kept the momentum going with 30-odds not out each to see us home by 7 wickets.
