Code of Behaviour

Player Code of Behavior

The Code of Conduct for North Canberra Gungahlin players can be sighted here. As members of the Club all players (and their parents) when they register with the Club agree to adopt the Code of Conduct as it applies to junior players.

The most important rule is to develop your cricket skills, enjoy the fellowship of those you train and play with and HAVE FUN!!

However, to enable all players to get the most from their experience with North Canberra the following practical rules also apply:

Behaviour at Practice and Game Day

  1. Zero Tolerance: North Canberra/Gungahlin Cricket Club has a Zero Tolerance Policy towards bad and abusive language and offensive behavior from players, team officials and supporters.
  2. Punctuality: All players are required to be punctual for practices, games and other Club activities. This will assist the smooth running of the event.
  3. Practice Behaviour: All players attending the practices, games and other Club activities are expected to obey all the rules and regulations as determined by the Club organisers. The players will also show respect to each other, all members of the Club staff and players from other clubs and their Club staff.
  4. Sportsmanship: At all times players are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and cooperate with their peers in group activities.

Security and Health

  1. Appropriate Clothing: Players are to report to practices, games and other Club activities in appropriate clothing. This must include a hat and suitable footwear for training drills. Players are required to wear full cricket whites to take part in a match or other clothing as approved by the Junior Cricket Council of the ACT.
  2. Protective Gear: Full protective gear must be worn when batting in matches and in the nets. Full protective gear must be worn for wicket keeping up to and including Under 11s. The wearing of helmets for wicket keeping is optional from the Under 12 age, but with the express approval of parents.
  3. Skin protection and hydration: Each player must bring his own sunscreen and drink bottle. Drink bottles must not be shared because of the risk of disease.
  4. Personal Items: Do not bring valuables to practices, games and other Club activities.
  5. Equipment: All equipment and clothing should be labelled so that players don't lose their property. Players should also respect the playing equipment provided by the club for their use.
  6. Medication: Any player on medication must notify the practices, games and other Club activities organisers, whose duty it is to store the medication securely and ensure it is dispensed as required.

North Canberra Gungahlin Cricket Club is a community focused cricket club who provide an environment where cricketers of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels can enjoy their cricket and develop their skills.

We participate in CricketACT Mens, Womens and Juniors competitions. We have approximately 150 senior members and supporters and 22 junior teams and more than 100 "in2cricket" participants (aged 8 years and younger) making us the largest Cricket Club in the ACT. Historically we have been based in close proximity to the centre of Canberra and over the last decade have developed a strong presence in the growth suburbs of Gungahlin. We have recently opened our new Clubroom and Ovals at Harrison, while still retaining our traditional home grounds of Keith Tournier Memorial Oval and Reid Oval.
